| It is with great sadness our institution announces the passing of Mr. James A. McErlean, Sr., Board Chairman, who was affectionately known by many in the movement as Mr. Mac. He joined the Board of Directors of the Knights of Columbus Federal Credit Union in 1980; he was elected Chairman of the Board in 1986. Under his Chairmanship, the institution successfully merged a number of other credit unions, including Sheet Metal Workers Union Local #19 FCU, Concora FCU and American Pioneer FCU, as well as provided stewardship through a charter conversion and name change in 2006 to Viriva Community Credit Union.
Mr. McErlean dedicated his life to his family and his church and has been a leader in the credit union movement for nearly 40 years. Mr. McErlean was well respected and his passion for the credit union movement was evident. His spirit of volunteerism and helping others has certainly inspired those around him. He always went the extra mile to find out more about each person he met, always remembered your name and always took the time to say hello with a smile.
