As a PHEAA approved lender, Viriva Community Credit Union has the ability to offer you Federal Stafford (Student) and Parent (PLUS) Loans for you or your child’s higher education. Viriva is a participating lender in the Keystone BEST Loan program, which is the most affordable Stafford Loan in America. This special Stafford Loan program is meant to make educational loans more affordable to residents of Pennsylvania or out-of-state students attending Pennsylvania schools who use one of the Keystone BEST participating lenders. The average savings to borrowers (using a $10,000 loan balance) over the life of the loan is $2,300. Just like the federal Stafford program, these loans are either subsidized or unsubsidized, based on financial need. Borrowers must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to determine eligibility.

This student loan is available with no up-front costs, and offers a 0.25 % interest rate reduction for automatic direct debit of payment.

Keystone PLUS for Parents

The Parent PLUS Loan is a program in the Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP). The Keystone PLUS for Parents Loan helps parents meet educational costs not covered by their child’s financial aid package.

• Rebate up to 2% of the loan amount (1% rebate for the first 24 consecutive, on-time payments, and 1% at the 48th consecutive, on-time payment).
• The current fixed interest rate is 8.5% for loans disbursed on/after July 1, 2006.
• Interest payments may be tax deductible.
• Interest rate reduction of .25% for using Direct Debit to repay your loan.
• Participating lenders may discount the interest rate by an additional percentage at first disbursement (Please check with your lender for further details).
